[Achievement] Penentuan Lokasi PLTP di Kabupaten Semarang Dengan Pendekatan Spasial untuk Mewujudkan Transformasi Energi Berbasis Renewable Energy Based on Industrial Development (REBID)

During the Geography Days (GDays) 2022 organized by the Himpunan Departemen Geografi, Universitas Indonesia, participants from the Environmental Geography study program submitted a work titled “Penentuan Lokasi PLTP di Kabupaten Semarang Dengan Pendekatan Spasial untuk Mewujudkan Transformasi Energi Berbasis Renewable Energy Based on Industrial Development (REBID)”, which earned the third-place honor in Best Video Presentation and Best Poster Category.

Two Students from GEL Following Internship in PT SMART Tbk

Kurniawan Aji Wicaksono (GEL 2014) and Hamzah Fathoni (GEL 2014) from the Department of Environmental Geography have finished conducting practical work activities or internships on September 3, 2018 – October 29 2018. The activity was held at the head office of PT. SMART Tbk, Jakarta Pusat, DKI Jakarta. The activity in the form of a desk study was conducted at the PMNP department (Plantation, Monitoring, and Planing), Land Evaluation division, Hydrology section. The activity begins with an introduction to the problems that exist in the company in this case is oil palm plantations caused by hydrological factors. These activities include studies of; (1) Potential Analysis of Surface Water Resources, (2) Potential Analysis of Groundwater Resources, (3) Survey of Potential of Mineral Materials, and (4) Analysis of Flood Solutions. The study uses methods that have been studied in lecture benches such as water balance calculations using the hydrometeorological approach, measurement of watershed discharge using rational methods, geoelectric survey methods 1D and 2D, and utilization of GIS (Geographic Information System) especially in supporting hydrological analysis activities. read more

First Winner Achievement of Environmental Geography Student in Green Base Paper Competition

Department of Environmental Geography, UGM successfully passed 2 teams in the 9th Green Base National Paper Competition organized by Resource and Environmental Economics Student Association (REESA) and the Student Executive Board, Faculty of Economics and Management, Bogor Agricultural Institute. First team consisted of Yan Abdi Rahmanu, Dicky Satria Dwiputra, and Gagad Nur Ridho (GEL2015) guided by Dr.rer.nat Muhammad Anggri Setyawan, M.Sc. raised the theme of morphoconservation mapping in the Bompon Sub-watershed, Magelang. Second team consisted of Cahyadi Ramadhan, Najmah Munawaroh and Aji Dwi Pratama (GEL2015) raised the theme of GIS-based fishing calendar. read more

Internship Activities of Environmental Geography Students at Pertamina’s Geothermal Site in Kamojang Area

Reinaldy Pratama Poetra (GEL 2014), Melati Ayuning Putri (GEL 2014), and Anindya Arma Risanti (GEL 2014) from the Department of Environmental Geography did intenship (partical work) for one month (1 July – 1 August 2018) at Geothermal Site, PT Pertamina Area Kamojang, West Java. Three students did an internship in the Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Division on the topic of environmental hydrology under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Sudarmadji, M.Sc.Eng. Practical work was carried out in four stages; (1) Introduction of areas, systems and work operations, (2) Identification of problems in the HSSE field, (3) Planning of operational quality improvement technical solutions, (4) Final presentation. read more
