In line with the Study Program’s target to improve Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 7 which is linked to collaborative and participatory class achievements, namely the percentage of courses that use case-solving learning methods or project-based group learning as part of the evaluation weight, the GEL Study Program held the IKU 7 Workshop on December 14-15 2023.

The workshop discussed accelerating IKU 7 achievements at the Study Program, SIOBA and LAMSAMA levels. Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 754/P/2020 concerning Main Performance Indicators is a guideline for each State University, including the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), in determining performance plans, preparing work plans and budgets, preparing contract documents, preparation of performance reports, and process of evaluating performance achievements.

The paper titled “Spatiotemporal ecological risk evaluation and source identification of heavy metals and nutrients in the water and lake surface sediment in a protected catchment area of a volcanic lake” by Dr. Lintang Nur Fadlillah, S.Si., M.Sc, et al, from the Department of Environmental Geography, presents an investigation into the quality of sediment and source identification of heavy metals and nutrients in lakes. The study was conducted to identify potential sources of metal deposits (Cu, Pb, Cr, Fe, Al, and Cd) and nutrients (TN and TP) in lake surface sediments, using the enrichment factor (EF), geoaccumulation index (Igeo), potential ecological risk index (Er), and risk index (RI). read more

The Department of Environmental Geography received a visit from MAN 1 Surakarta and Madrasah Aliyah Al ‘Imaroh Bekasi (29/2). The main agenda of the visit was an introduction to the UGM profile. The Faculty of Geography includes three study programs, one of which is Environmental Geography. During this visit, the Department of Environmental Geography also presented the profile of the IUP (International Undergraduate Program) of Environmental Geography UGM.

Professor Dr.rer.nat. Muh Aris Marfai, S.Si., M.Sc., who currently serves as the Head of the Geospatial Information Agency, has been awarded the 2023 UGM Award for his outstanding contributions to Science and Technology Development in the field of Geospatial Information. Professor Aris’ dedication and implementation of Geospatial Information have been recognized as exemplary, earning him this prestigious honor.

Dr. Danang Sri Hadmoko, S.Sc., M.Sc., was one of the recipients of the Tremplin Award (Prix Tremplin ASEAN de coopération bilatérale en recherche) for the collaboration between the French Government in the field of Research and Innovation and ASEAN countries.

This award was given by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research on Tuesday (13/6) 2022, at the Grande salle des séances, Institute de France, Paris, France. This award is a recognition of the long-term collaboration between Gadjah Mada University and Universitè Paris 1 Panthéon Sorbonne, France. read more
