The National Seminar and Exhibition on Dissemination of Superior Applied Research Results from Higher Education in the Bompon Sub-Watershed, organized by the UGM Center for Land Resource Management Studies, featured several lecturers from the Department of Environmental Geography as speakers. The seminar, held offline on Thursday, August 4, 2022, at the Hall of the Regional Government Complex (Pemda) of Magelang Regency, aimed to address the reduction of risk associated with disasters such as droughts, erosion, and landslides resulting from rainwater runoff from residential areas and agricultural land in the Transition Landscape Zone of the Sumbing Quaternary Volcano and the Kulonprogo Tertiary Volcano in Central Java.
Dr. rer. nat. M. Anggri Setiawan, M.Si., Head of the Center for Natural Disaster Studies at UGM, Dr. Eng. Guruh Samodra, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of the Environmental Geomorphology & Disaster Mitigation Laboratory, Faculty of Geography UGM, and Dr. Nugroho Christanto, S.Sc., M.Si., all lecturers from the Department of Environmental Geography, were among the speakers who shared their extensive knowledge and expertise on the seminar’s theme.
The dissemination seminar was successfully conducted to provide insights into reducing risks associated with disasters caused by rainwater runoff in the region. The lecturers’ contributions played a significant role in disseminating the information and providing greater accessibility to the research results, ultimately leading to a better understanding of the importance of controlling rainwater runoff in the region.
